Former MCSO posse member arrested on child porn charges

Mar 8, 2014

Arizona Republic

If you ask me Arizona's laws against dirty pictures, which have some pretty draconian penalties are really religious laws.

For each photo a person is arrested with their is a mandatory 10 year prison sentence which must run consecutively with all the other mandatory prison sentences.

With hundreds of images seized from this poor schmucks computer he is facing a minimum of 1,000 years in prison. For the victimless crime of looking at dirty pictures.

Sure the this guy is a pervert, but I think it is a waste of our tax dollars to put him in prison for the rest of his life and spend $50,000 a year of our tax dollars keeping him there.

A former sheriff’s posse member has been arrested on suspicion of possessing child pornography, authorities said.

Computer-repair technicians contacted the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office on Monday after discovering multiple pornographic images of children on Roger Byg’s laptop, according to a Sheriff’s Office statement.

Deputies executing a search warrant at Byg’s Sun City home on Thursday seized a laptop computer containing hundreds of images of children ages 3 to 14 involved in sex acts with other children and adults, the statement said.

Byg, 73, is facing ten counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

The Sheriff’s Office said Byg resigned from the Sun City posse early last year.
