Cops arrest man for looking at dirty pictures

Jun 6, 2014

Arizona Republic

Don't these police officers have any REAL criminals to hunt down???

This guy was busted for the crime of looking at dirty pictures. Don't these police officers have any real criminals to hunt down. You know criminals that hurt people, like robbers and burglars. Not some lonely old man who looks at dirty pictures because he doesn't have any one to love!

Sure the guy may be a pervert, but we certainly don't need to spend $40,000 a year to lock him up in prison!!!!

Police: Gilbert school-bus driver downloaded child porn

Sophia Kunthara, The Republic | 11:39 p.m. MST June 5, 2014

A Gilbert school-bus driver has been arrested and accused of downloading child pornography at a public library more than a month after being accused of furnishing obscene materials to minors, court records say.

Maricopa County adult-probation officers were called to the Mustang Library in Scottsdale on Tuesday after someone reported that Murat Alev, 60, was looking at sexually explicit images on one of the library's computers, court records say.

Officers were able to locate Alev through his court-ordered ankle monitoring device, which was fitted in April, court records say.

Alev had been at the library for six hours and was preparing to leave when a Scottsdale police detective arrived around the library's closing time, court records show.

The detective questioned Alev about his activity on the library's computers, and Alev provided the investigator with a thumb drive, a police report says.

Alev told the detective that he had downloaded hundreds of images of young naked girls while at the library, court records say.

Alev told police that he used the Scottsdale library because he believed its computers did not filter material as well as other libraries' computers, police records show.

Alev was later arrested without incident at his home in Gilbert on Tuesday, police say.

He was already on felony release while awaiting trial. In that case, he is accused of furnishing obscene materials to minors.

His release conditions did not allow him to access a computer or the Internet or have unsupervised contact with minors, court documents say.

Alev had been arrested on April 26 after he viewed and downloaded pornography in the view of minors at a Gilbert Starbucks, police said.

No one at the school district was aware that Alev was wearing an ankle monitor during his employment, said Holly Torska, an administrative assistant at Gilbert Public Schools.

Alev had completed a fingerprint check when he was hired, she said.

Alev went through a "separation of employment" with the district on May 13, she said, about two weeks after he was initially arrested and fitted with the ankle monitor.
